At Auer Integrative Health, we recognize the importance of providing the highest level of health care while also making your treatment easy to understand and transparent. Our functional medicine program features a three-tiered approach: New Patient Consultation, Review of Findings, and Treatment Plan. Each process is distinctly individualized to fit your exact needs and health presentation.

NEW PATIENT CONSULTATION

During your initial consultation, Dr. Auer will conduct a comprehensive analysis of your medical history, review your intake forms and any lab tests you have submitted, and ask questions to gain full clarity of your health picture. Furthermore, he will run a thorough physical examination of all your body's systems as well as orthopedic and neurological testing when appropriate.

Here is a brief overview of  the areas that he will address during your consultation:

  • Review of current health concerns
  • Analysis of symptoms
  • Evaluation of metabolic
  • Assessment of lifestyle and nutrition
  • Examination of systems including:
head; eyes, mouth, and nose; lungs; skin; muscles and bones; vascular, gastrointestinal, gastro-urinary, neurologic, and lymphatic systems
  • Medical history
  • Family history
  • Surgeries/hospitalization
  • Medications
  • Allergies
  • Stress and energy levels
  • Sleep patterns
  • Exercise and physical activity

REVIEW OF FINDINGS

Once you have completed the new patient consultation, Dr. Auer will closely review all your information and documentation pertinent to your case. He will then create a detailed Review of Findings that will outline your medical history and symptom presentation, provide you with a complete review of your existing laboratory test results, diagnoses, and past and current treatments, and make recommendations on additional laboratory testing, if needed. The Review of Findings is an invaluable tool that will not only help you clearly understand your current health presentation and your next steps, but also, clearly outline a roadmap so that you can reach and maintain your health goals.

TREATMENT PLAN

Every treatment plan is typically designed for a three to four month duration. Once Dr. Auer has reviewed all of your test results, he will provide detailed protocol recommendations that aim to address any specific biochemical imbalances that may have been uncovered by laboratory testing. At the end of your treatment plan, Dr. Auer will reassess your new state of health, outline your overall improvement and progress, and refocus your care through the creation of a new treatment plan, if necessary. You may repeat the "treatment plan" process numerous times, with each treatment plan improving its efficiency and priority, resulting in continued progress towards an optimal biochemical state, great health, and amazing well-being.

1. LAB TESTING

Dr. Auer may recommend additional laboratory testing to better understand your current state of health. Testing is also used to track your overall progress throughout the treatment plan. Re-testing is usually done every 3-4 months to confirm your improvements and determine the course of your next treatment plan. Testing may include: general blood work, stool samples, hormone and thyroid panels, Adrenal Stress Indexes (ASI), micronutrient testing, genetic testing, and various other testing as needed.

2. BUILDING A FOUNDATION

Most chronic conditions and their symptoms are rooted in environmental and lifestyle factors that adversely affect your body systems. The initial treatment plan will focus on identification and elimination of these factors. This will create a solid foundation for allowing your body to regain optimal health and well-being.

3. PROTOCOLS

To help maximize your overall progress, Dr. Auer will prescribe individualized treatment protocols to speed up your body’s ability to regain biochemical and physiological balance. Most protocols are typically implemented for the duration of your treatment plan and fine-tuned as you progress through the program.

4. MONITORING

During the entire process of your treatment plan, you will meet with Dr. Auer routinely. This will allow us to ensure that you are progressing through the treatment as planned and give you access to Dr. Auer for any questions that may arise. Dr. Auer will also periodically check in with you, usually in between your official treatment plan consultations, based on your needs and treatment plan progression.

5. RETESTING

When you are close to finishing your treatment plan, re-testing may be required. This will allow Dr. Auer to have new empirical data on your overall progress and current health status, which will be fully discussed during your re-assessment consultation.

6. RE-ASSESSMENT

This appointment is designed to re-assess your current state of health, highlight your overall progress, and compare your previous and current laboratory test results. Based on the outcome, Dr. Auer will identify the best course of treatment to keep you advancing towards optimum health.

7. NEW TREATMENT PLAN

If needed, a new treatment plan will be created based on your re-assessment and will follow though a similar process as outlined above.
